Which speakers do people recommend to accompany an iPod (5Gb) to turn it into a mini stereo in effect?

I've been looking at compact Sony computer speakers, nxt speakers and even those Ellula inflatable speakers - but still haven't found any that would sound good, are compact and look almost stylish!

Any help is appreciated, Apple forums weren't much help

How about the JBL Creatures?
They definitely look stylish, sound great for their size and can be purchased for about $80 someodd bucks if you look hard enough.

The Apple Retail Stores always show the iPod & Creatures together.

Not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for, but Altec Lansing's 2100's are pretty nice.

Suggestions so far are good - the JBL and Altec systems are very nice, but a tad expensive over here ($99 becomes £99 even though they will have been made in the far east anyway).

At the moment I have been looking at the Sony SRSD 101 which is half price at the moment (£50), or the smaller SRS Z30. Although, I really like the style of the SRS Z1 . The D101 looked like a bargain, but the sub really is huge even though the speakers are nice and dinky

Anyhow, keep the suggestions coming.

When I finally get an office, I'm splurging for this setup:
Griffin iFire,
DV Forge iPod Stand,
and the oh so sweet Apple Pro Speakers

I can hear it now...

hi, a friend got himself the Creature based on its looks. Unfortunately, it did not sound that good.
The Sony sets looks quite sophisticated too.
An alternative suggestion is to check out Creative's latest I-Trigue speakers (the L3450 & L3500). The L3450 comes in glossy white which can be matching to the ipod. The lower range actually goes down to 30hz & comes with a wired remote (instead of having the controls on the speakers itself).

after 3 years of rather hard years, i still love my cambridge sound-works, digital speaker 2.1 set up. They still sound great at moderate levels. They aren't the best on style but they suit me fine, you can find their updated version at hifi.com

I GOT WASTED WITH PHIL SHERRY!!!

I think what I am going to do is pick up a Harman Kardon champagne speaker set off of eBay, as we already acquired one through eBay sometime ago and it works pretty well with a G4 Mac.

For true portability, I use the Sony SRS-T77 (http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...sAAAD3B0CquAcR). One piece, base speaker in the base.

Could I recommend http://www.becart.com/iPod.htm instead of the DV forge. I just got mine in yesterday and it's simplicity speaks for itself. The stand is a solid piece of aluminum and it's weight keeps it put.

Look at Cambridge Soundworks, Altec Lansing, Logitech, etc. Just don't go too cheap.

FYI, I don't like the JBL Creature or Champagne speakers, because I feel that they offer $40 sound for very much more money, just because they look cool.
