Hi all,
I purchased a 3rd generation iPod (10GB) to replace my original 5GB iPod. What a mistake that was.
I must say, the new touch sensitive buttons are HORRIBLE. Trying to change songs while on the road is quite tricky. Most of the time I end up hitting the wrong button which loads the menu, goes back one song, etc. Have had the new iPod for about a month and still haven''t adjusted to it.
I had had no beefs with the original iPod. I like the fact there were actual buttons to push.
Anyways, i'm getting rid of the iPod this week. I may pickup a 1st/2nd generation one sometime soon.

I agree that the original design was probably easier to use, but I don't think the new ones are that bad.

If you're interested, I've got $150 in Apple Gift Certificates I can offer you for it if it's in good shape. Price might be a bit low, but it's what I got.

Sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the latest design. But I must say, that I too fumbled with the sensitivity of the buttons for a bit. But once I got the hang of it, it's very nice. The sensitivity is actually a good thing for me once I got used to it.

I like the "wow" factor of the new buttonless buttons, but have to agree with Emeril. I've had my 3rd Gen. iPod since shortly after launch, but miss the functionality of my old, original 5 GB device. I never hit buttons accidentally on that one... And never had to use the Hold button.
Everything's a trade-off though. I love the fact my new iPod holds more music. I like the backlit buttons, although it's probably an unneccessary feature and I like how the screen backlight fades off theatre-style.

I also agree that the touch sensitive buttons suck. I'm hoping an iskin will help out with this problem by making it possible to feel for the correct button without actually touching it.
