Hey all,

I've got a 16/600 that I'm trying to use with a Windows XP machine. I set the IP address on the local subnet using the Apple Printer Utility on a Mac (though I don't see fields for setting subnet mask and gateway). XP won't allow me to browse to it or enter the IP in any of Add Printer's network connection windows; so I set up a new local TCP/IP port, entered the IP address, selected the Apple driver, etc. No dice.

I downloaded AdobePS for Windows, and the Apple PPD, and set it up similarly. No dice.

At this point I'm stuck. Is there no way to print to this directly? I have an OS X Jaguar machine on the network that I could set up as a print server if someone can tell me how!

Many thanks,
Noam

IIRC, those printers don't support full TCP/IP ethernet, but use a version that Apple created called EtherTalk, that XP doesn't support. You may be able to connect the LW to your network using the enet connection and then connect the Windows machine directly to the printer using the parallel port--I thinkXP would support that (works on my LW630 anyway).

You may be able to use something like PC MacLAN to connect using Ethernet.

You can find the manual for the printer here(PDF). Not sure if it'll be of any help.
