The utilities that come with this thing are VERY small, basic functions only, hell there isn't even a place to set paper size.

I have never print from a mac before, would like to on a regular basis, any tips or programs that would be helpful to do such things as borderless printing, 4x6, 8x10 high res printing and such?

any programs that are well set up on macs for this kind of work?

Are there any noticeable (look real hard!) lines in the picture running vertically or horizontally? I saw a demo of an i850 at a Fry's Electronics and saw lines. I'm just making sure.

Thanks

Then it needed calibration and/or cleaning.

I compared the 950 to the 850 directly on some full resoloution 8x10 on photo paper, the 850 is $150 and the 950 is $250, I believe the only difference is that the 950 has 6 in tanks and the 850 has only 4.

there was VERY little difference, very happy with my purchase. I would reccomend this printer to anyone without a doubt.

There are some differences in the print head, making the i850 faster at general-purpose printing.

The i950 prints using 2pl droplets.

The i850 has (for each color except black) both 2pl nozzles [for quality] and 5pl nozzles [for speed]. In the i850, the whole head is also duplicated in mirror image, so that the colors are always put down in the same order.

But are there any *quality* differences between the i850 and i950? I'm still not satisfied completely with the output that i saw of the i850. I saw vertical lines running down the photo - faint, but they were there.

AS I ALREADY SAID (did you read what I said?), then that particular individual unit needs cleaning and/or calibration. If properly cleaned and calibrated, it will not create banding. (Just as the i950 doesn't.)

EVERY inkjet needs proper cleaning and calibration, by the way.

The i950 has slightly better photo quality, it is less grainy under magnification.

But the i850 will not make lines or anything like that if it is set up properly.

and love it!
I couldn't believe the quality and SPEED of the 4x6 prints I printed out! (It only took about 10-20 seconds to print out.)
Co-worker bought one also and she also commented on the quality and speed.
Oh - very quiet and good looking too.
