I was looking into getting a camera bag for my Canon PowerShot G3. I've looked on Amazon and there really too many too choose without being able to even see them. If anyone could help me choose a bag I'd be extremely grateful. Here are some of my needs:
Needs to carry my camera of course.
Should fit the camera's cables. These include a USB cable, power brick, and power cable.
In the future I will be looking to buy a Speedlite series external flash as well as a close up and telephoto lens. It should be able to hold these as well.
Just some pockets for a few compact flash cards, my tiny remote, and the battery pack cover (about a memory card size but less wide).
Should be of good build quality.
Preferably waterproof.
Less than 100 bucks, even 50 if possible.
I also need to get a tripod. I'd also like to get a good quality tripod but not over the top (are there really many features to look for in a tripod?...)
If possible it'd be nice if the bag could hold the tripod but if not that's OK. I realize this will be a rather big bag but I don't want it -too- bulky. It should at least fit on my lap I can carry the tripod separately if needed.
I really this is a lot to ask but I really don't want to get something crappy then return it. Thanks a lot for your help

Synotic, I know what you mean about camera bags. There are a million of 'em. I would choose by going to Best Buy or a camera store and comparing, but I guess that's out of the question if you're really in the middle of nowhere. But you might even find what you need at Target. Here's a write-up on camera bags: http://products.consumerguide.com/cp...m/id/11334.htm
As for tripods, I had to buy one last year and went for a compact, lightweight model - the Hakuba Branner S5, about $45-50. It folds down to about 14", weighs less than 2 pounds, and fits in my daypack. The lighter and more compact the tripod, the less stable and less durable it will tend to be, but the more likely you'll take it with you. It's a trade-off and your decision depends mostly on what kind of work you intend to do. Here's a write-up on tripods: http://products.consumerguide.com/cp...m/id/11338.htm

I actually found the bhphoto people right after posting this They seem to have a bag that I really want, the Lowepro Nova 4. At a fairly reasonable price. I think I saw somewhere, however, that they sell used products? Is that wrong or what? Can't seem to find anything to the contrary on the site. Thanks again

Yeah, they sell used stuff, look on the left hand navigation, in big green letters about midway down.
You could search for that bag/tripod on eBay/Amazon Zshops too, see if you can get a good deal that way.

I meant that is all they sell are used products? I'd rather get a new bag than a used one. I just want to make sure. Thanks

bhphoto mostly sells new products, but they offer used as well. You can assume that you're buying new unless you click on the "Used Products" link.
