I am looking to purchase an Apple Cinema Display (20") for my recent G5 purchase (set to arrive on or before 9/18/03). With all of the speculation surrounding new displays, should I wait until Apple Expo Paris (Sept 16) or just go ahead and purchase when I go to the St. Louis Apple store this Saturday?
I like the current displays, but I don't want to buy an end-of-line product. Secondly, if new displays were introduced, how long untill they would begin shipping?
Thanks

I want a 20" Cinema Display too... but waiting till they match the G5, well will wait till Paris Expo at least anyway. Was looking at a sony 19" flatscreen, but realised i really want the cinema display, the widescreen n res seems nice

right, ive decided that if no displays come from Paris expo then im more than likely of buying the 21.3" Samsung 213T.
Ive made a roughly to scale mockup of it and the G5 here

btw, it allows you to spin it and use it in portrait mode. on windows this uses software. I also know that my GeForce3 in windows allows me to do this. How would it be done (if possible) on a mac???

I've read that the driver for the Radeon 9800 allows this. As far as I know, that is the only way to use a pivoting monitor in OS X currently.

I hope new displays are released soon, then I can get a 20" for an end of line price to go with my Dual G4 1.25GHz (Could not justify getting a G5 for what I need - A G5 sure would be nice on my desk though!)
