Anyone know how to find a local SE service center for getting the firmware updated?

Yes - I did this yesterday (believe it or not there are no service centres in Central London!)

You just call SE - you can get the cust serv. number from SonyEricsson.com

n.b. the phone will be *wiped* during the upgrade.

If you have access to a PC (or Virtual PC), you can do a backup, then do a restore after upgrading.

However, this doesn't back up SMS text messages. I still haven't figured out why, or where they are kept (probably because I haven't looked that hard).

But it's worth noting, as I was very pissed off after losing months of text messages, even after doing backup and restore

Other than that though, its well worth doing the upgrade.

Which software is used to backup?
Besides, which is the new firmware? I have the R2B on mine.

I think that the latest firmware is R2F which has a lot of improvements over the older editions (full screen video etc) You can back up your addresses using Isync but not your calendar info (yet!) For this you need a windows pc with outlook installed (or similar) and the sync software that comes with the phone on the cd.

I called and they gave me another number to call, but they are closed on the weekends. They sure don't make it easy. Why don't they just include the info on their website?
