G'day,
I just received a Canon LiDe 50 scanner from Amazon.com. It's my first scanner, thus I don't really know much about them.
Upon close examinination of the glass I can see that on the under side of the glass, there are a number of tiny flecks of dust. With a flash light I could count over 20 such flecks. There are also 4-5 tiny hairs, or at least that's what they look like.
There is also a 2 inch long line across part of the glass that yields a transparent distortion to the glass continuity.
I've done a few scans, and at least to my untrained eye, the scans do not appear to be effected by the above issues. Perhaps I just haven't scanned the right kind of image.
In any case, am I correct in assuming that the scanner is defective? Or are the imperfections normal for scanners?
I still have 20 days left on my return/exchange window.
Thanks!
