Hey kids--

I havea 15GB 3G ipod... it's sweet, expect the battery at most last half of the 8 hours it says, but that is fine for me, since it's been no problem for my travel times.

Anyway, a few questions--

• Is it bad to keep the iPod plugges into your computer via the dock, all the time? I don't see why.

• And since I only have a 10GB harddrive on my iBook, but a 15GB on my Ipod, I think I realized I should just keep all my music files on the iPod and just play music off there when I need too. Do others do this?

• I wanted to make sure my files wouldn't be erased on my iPod since there is no files on my actually harddrive any more (i erased them)... but now I can get the iPod Icon on the desktop, but I don't know how to get it back to play in iTunes. I tused to be automatic, but I thought that also updates the iPod and erases the file.

so how can I play my music off my iPod without erasing all my files?

Thank you.

When your iPod is plugged in it should appear on the desktop and also within iTunes. You can access it as a music library to play music from it in iTunes or access it from finder and desktop to keep files in it.

excuse my excessive use of "it"

If you want to do this, you just have to make sure you set your iPod to manual mode. Then you can play the songs on the iPod from within iTunes, and it won't automatically try and update the songs on the ipod with those on your iBook.

I did that... the iPod shows up on the desktop, but it no longer shows up when I open iTunes.

How can I get it to show up again in iTunes?

Apple has a very good troubleshooting database for the iPod:

iPod Support

I'd also suggest getting a copy of the book iPod, The Missing Manual. Excellent book .
