Hi,

I hope someone can help with my problem since I'm getting quite frustrated. I bought a 200gig external firewire drive to store digital photos from my iMac. I moved my entire iPhoto library into the hard drive (which I partitioned into two 100 gigs), and everything worked for the first 24 hours. Since then, iPhoto won't mount the library anymore. It gets stuck loading the photos (I see 10-12 and then it is a spinning beachball).

I've tried to copy the library the library to another firewire drive and now it only copies the first 30megs of data and then stops. If I access the drive too frequently, I feel like the only thing resets. For example, the window that I'm using with the hard drive will disappear and I need to start accessing it from the beginning.

I have over 10G of photos that I don't want to lose. Any help???

I even tried to copy the entire library onto my powerbook computer, but it won't work either. What should I do? Disk First-aid says that the drive is fine.

Did Western Digital screw me?

Cheers,
Thomas
