I've tried dozens of nice and I'm haven't been 100% satisfied.

I have a Kensington mouse at work and man it blows. The pad scroll is hard to push (wheels are better) and the mouse isn't an ergonomic as it could be (it's quite flat and small).

I've also used the Logitech mice and not quite happy with their design, aesthecially. They work ok, (I know it's petty) but they look ugly.

The microsoft mice i'm most pleased with. They fit comfortably, batteries last long in wireless verisons, and look good, but they are a little bit heavy and I would like more buttons. I would really like a mouse that has more than 5 buttons.

What is your favorite mouse?

I own a Logitech MX500 and can't recommend the MX500 or MX700 (if you dig wireless) enough...wonderful comfortable mice.

Should have mentioned that I read those.

The threads cover Logitech mostly, but I am wondering about other mice that are not as mainstream as apple, microsoft, and Logitech.

Well, bmmp, you did ask "what is the best mouse?" If all the threads you've read seem to mention Logitech, Apple or Microsoft then doesn't that answer your question?!

I use Logitech's; both the MX300 and optical wheel mouse. I agree that they aren't the most attractive mice, but they are sturdy, reliable, have good software (for both my Mac and my PC) and aren't made by Microsoft...
