I have a G3/300Mhz B/W running 10.2.4. It refuses to burn a CD with my Que!Fire 12X10X32X Firewire CD Burner. The writer just seizes up and stops at the beginning of the burn. The same thing happens whether I use iTunes or Toast...Data or Music.
I have no interest in purchasing a PCI Card, anyone hear of this or find a fix?
I found this info. at QPS-Inc support...
Since I upgraded to OS 10.2 on my Blue and White G3 toast can find the drive but the system always locks up during the burn, what is the problem?
Many of our customers have seen similar issues with their firewire drives on B&W G3 systems after upgrading to 10.2. It looks like the problem is a communication issue between the firewire support in the new version OS X and the old firewire controllers that were used on the firewire ports on these units. A few of our customers told us that Apple told them they needed a driver to correct the problem so we are trying to find out from Apple what type of driver is needed but they have not responded to us yet. You may be able to get around this by attaching the drive to a firewire pci card since then the drive would run off of the firewire controllers on the card instead of the ones on the motherboard. We have not tested this yet, but a few of our customers have said it worked for them, so it may be a work around for the problem.
