RemoteRemote - Not yet shipping. Cheaper, and RF based.
Dr. Bott naviPod 3G - Locally available. More expensive, and IR based. Bulky.
I'm inclined to wait for the RemoteRemote, but so far it's vapourware and I have no idea how long it will take. Anybody have any more info on it?
Anybody used the naviPod? It looks bulky and somewhat inconvenient.

[bump]
I'm looking at the remoteremote, too, but the web site says it's still not shipping. Anyone have insight on this?
There are rumors of iPod peripherals coming out this Thursday when the Windows iTMS is announced. Makes sense, in terms of timing. They're talking about iTunes 5, too, which makes perfect sense.
Anyway, I want an RF remote for my iPod, and this is the only one I've "seen". Is it real? Has anyone ordered one? If so, are you getting any shipping date estimates?

The 3G NaviPod seems pretty useless. At least with the RemoteRemote you can keep the iPod in its dock.
On the other hand, the 1 and 2G NaviPod is indispensable. It charges your iPod, which the 3G doesn't, as well as acts as a really nice dock, which every older iPod needs desperately. I also like the remote itself. It fits comfortably in my hand, and the disc shape makes it satisfying to hurl across the room. If it seems too large in the picture, in reality it's just the right size. Any smaller and it would be too easy to loose the damn thing.
I am curious about the RemoteRemote though. My SO's iPod is without remote, and I would assume two NaviPods would interfere with each other.
Here's to hoping Apple just releases a dock based one themselves.

Just to bring this back up... I think it's available now as the store says buy now... Yeah, I know this thread is like 6 months old but I was looking at the navipod and thought this may be helpful to others...

The Remote Remote BLOWS AWAY anything you've ever used remote wise IF you need a remote that is not wired. I had my iPod in my armrest console of the Vette and had the wireless remote velcro'ed inconspicuously onto the other cubby dead center under a door that allowed me to "wire" my car for an iPod without having to run the wires up the console... Just last night though I installed the wired remote since the cable was long enough and since the RF option sometimes is hit or miss. Every once and a while the button "play" can be pushed after a night of rest in the car (for the iPod and receiver, not for me : ) and it won't respond. I can't tell unless I hit play again, but if it was responding, I just paused the iPod, and I can't tell so I have to open the console to look at the iPod and realize that either the remote remote didn't get either command (could be a battery or interference issue on my part) or I just paused the music... Anyhow, in the car I didn't want this performance prob, so I swapped it out for a wired option... I am truly loving it inside the house though, no need to aim, the range is pretty good, and RF trounces IR.
Rey :)
