Hi guys

i just got my new iPod 30gig and now i am looking for those FM Transmitters.
Some weeks ago i found a review about a bunch of them from an american site. Those dudes had the iRock, the iTrip, this belkin thing and another one.
The last, the ones name i can't remember, was the test winner. It looks a bit like the iRock but has a lil display where you can step to the next frequency. They said the sound quality was damm ok. I think its name started with "m" or something.

does anybody know what i am talking about or has anybody have the link to the review???

i searched already one day and can't find it anymore. Every help is really appreciated.

thanks

beta

I don't know which is the best, but I know that you should avoid at all costs (meaning run away if someone tries to give it to you much less sell it to you) the belkin one they've got a Best Buy. It sucks.

i need some kind of connection to different cars. i can't just buy a new radio with line/aux in. and some cars have cd player the others tapes and so on. so the only common interface is Radio.

I would really like to try it but here in denmark/Germany it is not legal so you can't just walk in a store get it and try it. i have to order it from the states.

damm what was the stupid name???

Stay away from the irock it's a piece of garbage! Personal experience.

I'm waiting for the itrip see if that does the trick.

From my experience, the iRock is just a complete waste of money, do not buy it!!
It just has 4 frequencies and it is so weak the stations on those channels still interfere.

I bought an alternative called Gruvx. It is so much better, it has a long zip cord audio jack adapter, it can change to any FM channel, and it will overpower any station I set the device to.

The Belkin one is a 4 frequency box just like the iRock, but it looks better, not sure if it works any better.

Gruvx all the way, and it only uses 1 AAA while iRock needs 2 AAA and it is weaker no less!!

Hmmm... I have the Belkin one, and it does the job.

Now, I'm not expecting beautiful amazing crystal-clear sound out of something that's frankly a kludge... so my expectations are fairly low. But this device meets those expectations adequately.

The Gruv-X works amazingly well. I actually don't have a single complaint about it which I am surprised about! I ordered mine from Gateway.com about 3 weeks ago when they had them in stock.
For anyone willing to wait for them to have them back in stock, I got this on some iPod forum....enter "NOSHIPA" as your coupon when you check out for free shipping.

Here's my review of FM transmitters in a nutshell:

They all suck.

Do yourself a favor and get a new radio with Aux inputs.

Yes, most will agree with you, but the original poster did mention that this was not an option for him.

I also find that a workable transmitter would be helpful, particularly on holiday when I rent cars, or when I'm back in europe using a rental. These days, most rental cars are cd or radio only, so a transmitter is the only way to connect your ipod.

For use at home, yes a line in version would be better, but that's not what was being asked about here.
