Can sync my UX 50 with my Mac

I can not sync my Sony Clie UX50 with my Mac. I have the latest version of Mac/Palm desktop (4.1) however every time I try syncing the UX50 crashes and I need to soft reset it.

Was told by the Sony service rep the the UX 50 is not compatible with Mac OS, however I seen various sources that says it is.

do I need Missing Sync for even the basic syncs? Anyone out there has a solution?
