Ordered a personalized 30G on the 3rd, they shipped it as a 40G yesterday. Airborne Express estimates it will be delivered today.
Not here yet...
[taps fingers]
Nope. not yet...

C'mon! don't you know I have better things to do than wait for you Mr. Airborne Express person!

I got a mail from Apple that my 20G (originally 15G replaced and delayed in delivery due to the model change) was shipped yesterday. I'm hoping that it will arrive today. Please, please, mr.sleaze!!

As I said in another thread, there is no need to erase your music or format your hard disk when upgrading the OS.

Thanx for the tip, Icruise. I've only upgraded the OS from 8.5 to 9 before, so I figured that I will have to clean install Panther again. Phew!!

8.5 to 9 didn't require a clean install either.
My iPod's still not there. Are the 7-10 days in the description accurate?
I want it now!!

No Mac OS has even required that you erase your hard disk, although that is an option when installing.

Geez, my friend taught me wrong about OS installation... Thank you all for the tip. All those lost hours wasted on reinstalling the softwares and backing up data, etc. Sigh...
iPod 20G is great, even though I'm only using 1G at this point. It's dream come true for me. So much for the hell I've gone through with cassette tapes and MD's in the past.

Could anyone please post the 2.0.2 update? It would be nice to see if it fixes a contrast issue with my 30 gb..

The 2.02 update is functionally identical to the 2.01 version. It just adds support for some new hardware use in the new models. So it wouldn't make any difference. I would think that any serious contrast issues would probably be hardware-based.

Yeah that's what I fear as well, but according to some it is said to fix some issues were the contrast is either set too low or too high on some models (I need to jack the contrast almost to the max to get "normal").
Otherwise a perfect unit

Ordered a 40 Gig earlier today from the Apple Canada store. Shows a 1-3 business day shipping date.
This will be my 3rd iPod. I had a 5 which I sold on E-Bay to help pay for a 20 Gig about a year ago. I have about 30 Gigs of music so this 40 will be perfect for me and should last several years.

So how long does the battery last if one was to play AAC or MP3 files that are 80min DJ Mix's?
I prefer to listen to mix's as Aiff but if the battery only lasts 2 hours that totally useless.
Problem with AAC or MP3 is that u loose the track markers.
BTW does the iPod have an EQ a user can adjust like iTunes or is it only presets?

Not sure about the battery life, as I know it differs depending on how you use it.
And no, the user can't adjust the equalizer manually, only with presets. I'm hoping a new software version will give us this option. I find that with AAC's, there's always something just a little off when using the presets (like bass, treble, mid, etc).

Just got a new 40G yesterday at the Apple Store in Fashion Island (Newport Beach, CA). Got it with the back to school special, so it will only be $300, too. So far, super nice. I've got iPodifillus Musicstorus now, though, so I feel the need to browse the Apple Music Store for hours looking for new music that I must have.

Well, the custom 30G ordered on the 3rd just arrived today as a 40G. 10 free gigs was worth the 16 day wait!

I ordered mine on Sept.16 with my 15" PB and it arrived on Monday the 22nd.
This is my second 20G iPod. I had a rev.b 20G. This new one is soo small, almost half the size of my old 20G. I believe that the iPod is the best digital device ever. I get so much use out of it and I can't imagine being without it. If you don't have one, get one!
