It seems like a handful of you are using Bluetooth phones with your 12" & 17" Powerbooks. I've read through many of the posts in this forum, and still have questions - and it seems like a lot of people are asking similar quesitons... so, here goes:

1. Can you update your SIM or phone address book from the Mac? It sure would be nice to keep a list of names/numbers (don't care about addresses or pictures) on the Powerbook and then simply blast them to the phone or SIM.

2. It appears that you can use the Bluetooth phone as a modem to connect to the net via your service provider. I assume you've got to have a wireless data plan? How does this work with T-Mobile? Which wireless provider is considered "the best" from a data plan perspective? I'm with T-Mobile, but would consider switching if there were significant benefits with somebody else.

3. Speaking of Bluetooth phones - I've heard some talk about Bluetooth headsets - man, that would be cool for us road warriors who are always in the car. Anybody got a link to a cool headset that will work with a Bluetooth phone?

Thanks for any tidbits or pointers.

1. Yes, if your phone is iSync compatible

2. T-mobile offers unlimited data use for $20/month. That may or may not be worth it to you.

The Verizon/Sprint CDMA networks offer faster downloads, but are much more expensive (~ $80/month unlimited)

3. Don't know, sorry.

1. iSync works great with my phone (SE t68i). The system that works best for me is to set up a group of people I want on the phone, from my address book, and sync that group. Very easy way to get names and numbers into your phone.

2. I have t-mobile but haven't used their data plan. I have dialed up my isp using my phone as a modem. Got a whoping 9600baud!

3. I to would like to try out a BT headset, but they are all so expensive and get mediocre reviews, at best. Here are some reviews.

Other cool things you can do with your BT phone is use Salling Clicker which turns your phone into a wireless remote for your computer. You can even use it for proximity sensing, so when you leave your desk, you could have it pause iTunes and put up your 'away' message on iChat, when you return, it can play iTunes, set your iChat back to available and check your e-mail or something. It is very flexible and totally cool.

Hope this helps..

You can get unlimited 14.4K transfers from T-Mobile by singing up for Unlimited T-Zones @ $9.99/month.

Your phone needs to be discoverable or already connected. Then click the Bluetooth icon in the top left corner of Address Book.

S E posted a new firmware a bit ago...and then yanked it. I guess there was stability issues, however most saw an increase in rf performance. Look here for answers to most anything.
