I want an eBook reader. Both the Palm Zire and the Sony SJ20 go for about £45 on eBay. Which would be better as an eBook reader? Another PDA in the same price range?

Not the Zire. The memory is low and its screen is abnormally small, and has no backlighting. I'd say the SJ-20 would be decent. If you spring for a color device (old Visor Prism even) the readability will be much higher.

So, when I said SJ20 in my initial post, I meant SL10. And, whilst there seem to be very many SL10s on eBay, there is not a single SJ20 located in the UK. There a couple available from the USA, but I'm guessing the postage will be very high.

So, does anyone know where I might buy one in the UK? I have looked in many places, but the closest I can find is the SJ22, which has a colour screen, and is £130. I'm looking for something about half that price, at the most.

Also, I've just noticed the SJ33. It seems to be the same price as the SJ22 whilst offering more gimicky featuers. Thoughts?

dont get the sl10
i had that at first for a week, and i went through 6 AA batteries
the rechargable ones are worth the extra cash up front

i dont have much experience with the 22/33, but the color screen looks cool, pointless for me, but still cool
and the 33 i think has an mp3 player, again, cool but useless to me

but ya the sl10 was a bit thicker then the sj20, but other then that they were the same for features
w3rd..

The SL10 is not what you're looking for, I reckon, nor is the Zire, which has a LOUSY screen!

The SL10 and SJ20, while both just grayscale and high-res, have vastly different screens... the one in the SJ20 is significantly superior (white backlight, better contrast).

Anything recent from the Clié SJ, T or N series will please you.

The Zire71 is a great choice if you can swing the 299.00 price. It has one of the best screens on a PDA, perfect for long reading sessions.
