I'm planning on buying an iPod -- hopefully tomorrow -- and I'm wondering if there's any difference between the "old" 10 GB iPods and the "new" ones introduced last week. Has the hardware changed at all, or is it just the 20 and 40 GB models that are new?

If there are difference between the old and new 10 GB models, are the differences significant?

I'm flying to Japan a week from Tuesday, and I'd really like to have an iPod for the trip. It's gonna be a long flight!

I'm flying back to Japan on Wednesday, myself. I don't think there is any difference between the "old" 10 GB models and the "new" ones. By the way, the iPod's battery won't last you all the way through the flight (I ended up charging it partially with my powerbook on the way so I would have some battery power left when I arrived). There is an external battery pack made by Belkin that apparently will extend the battery quite a bit, though.
