I recieved a 10 gig windows version iPod as a gift and I dont have a pc. I hooked it up to my mac at work (Powermac G4 1ghz) running OS9 and it seemed to transfer songs and such. Then I went to play the music and all the songs were messed up. Starting songs in the middle, mislabled songs. Just a complete nightmare.

Before I go and get a new iPod is there a way I can salvage this one to make it work with a Mac. I just picked up the new 15" powerbook and dont really have the money to spend on a new one.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Go to Apple's iPod site and download the Mac version of the firmware (v1.3 for G1 & 2 iPods) and select "Restore" from the two options available when iPod is connected to your PowerBook, which will convert your iPod to a Mac version

Hmm, is there anyway you can plug into an OS X machine? From there, just d/load the latest iPod Software & run it, and choose Reinitialize or whatever it says to reformat it, and then transfer your music and you should be good to go...I fear it wasn't reformatted exactly right, or maybe not at all.

Thank you both for the help. I will bring my iPod to the office tomorrow and download the patch and reformat it.
