Hello,

First let me say, I have learned a great deal over the past months from this forum while looking into getting an Apple computer (my first one in 7 years).

I have a question about the Powerbook and the 20" Cinema Display.
(yes I did a search, and didn't find an exact answer).

Is there a performane hit if I hook up a new PB15" with a 20" display?, graphically and CPU wise?

Ideally I would like to be able to come home, plug in the Powerbook to the display, and close the Powerbook lid, and just work with a external keyboard, and mouse (a lot of typing).

Will I be able to play games (I don't really, but dropping this kind of cash, I want that option), will I be able to watch DVD's (playing off the Powerbook)?

Thanks for your response. I came within seconds of hitting the buy button today, but these darn lingering questions.

As long as you've also ordered the ADC-to-DVI adapter, the setup will be just fine. Excellent in fact.

Apple fully intends external displays to be plugged into PowerBooks, and your intention of using it as a desktop unit is just fine.

If you look around of the numerous setup photos here of people who have received new laptops, you'll often see an external screen sitting near it.

(Maybe you'd also want to consider the wireless keyboard and/or mouse, given that your PowerBook has BlueTooth built in?)

The 20" Cinema Display is a truly beautiful screen. I had a Samsung 181T before mine, and the 20" just left that so far behind in terms of color vibrancy and sheer pleasure to look at.

The 20" Cinema is hands down the best LCD i've ever seen. I love mine.
