Hey... I put this in the wrong forum earlier... sorry...

I have a Cube that someone gave me. It would be great but one of the usb ports has been damaged. The little piece of plastic in there was ripped out some how.

Anyway I guess that its shorting out the other usb port because it is dead. I was thinking about just removing the bad port and hoping that would end the short.

Do you guys think this would work? If not do you have any good ideas? One idea is to use and ADC monitor and run the usb off that. Of course I don't have and ADC monitor and I was hoping to connect the computer to my HDTV.

Are there any other ways to add USB ports to a G4 Cube?

Also I was hoping to do this jank tonight!

Thanks much

No, there isn't any such device. I don't know why I've been seeing so much speculation/inquiry about them lately, but no, no such device exists, and I very seriously doubt that one will ever be made (and I really hope it stays that way).

You might be able to remove that port, but more likely than not, that Cube's motherboard is shot and needs to be replaced.

Just so it's a matter of record if anyone has the same problem...

After taking the cube apart and trying to remove the sodder from the port (which was way to hard for my little iron). I ended up removing the pins from the bad usb port. 9 was really messed up so I wiped the drive and am installing OS X. If I learn anything else that helps add to the database I'll post it here.

Thanks for the ideas!
