I'm thinking about buying an external (Firewire) DVD burner as a backup solution for our 2 powerbooks.
Does anybody have experience with the LaCie drives?

I am interested in moving to DVD as my medium of choice (my FireWire CD-RW just broke). I think this time around I'd like to make the switch to DVD, though all the solutions I looked into are about $299...

I think I might just go with a FireWire 52x CD-RW from LaCie for $119.

I just recently purchased Lacie's FW DVD +/- burner. It kicks butt! I haven't had any issues with it so far. It's worked like a charm. I also dig their cases. I believe they call it a D2 case. Either way, it can stand on end or lay flat, and is stackable.
