I have a printer which claims to be windows only.It comes with a pc printer port connection. Is there such a thing as a usb adaptor for this ? The printer is a 820 cxi and there are drivers available (open source) for X.

thanks in advance.

Yes. If the printer you have has a parallel port, you can get something like a USB to parallel port adapter, such as the ones listed below:

However, they don't come with drivers, so you need to make sure you can get hold of the drivers you need (GIMP-print??)

There IS a company named ATEN that makes specifically such a cable. Connect the parallel to the printer and the USB to the PC.

Does NOT need drivers - they are in the cable - and the machine reads them and installs them.

Works the SAME way on a Mac.

I know - because I have and use such a cable
