I cannot make iChatAV recognize my iSight on my dual G5, MacOS X 10.2.7. Works fine on my TiBook w/ 10.2.6.

Apple System Profiler recognizes the camera, but iChat can't find it ("no camera connected"). It does find my old microphone-less iBot camera, however.

Messages on the Apple Support discussion groups seem to mirror my finding. The iSight seems to be a no-go with 10.2.7 (G5, new PowerBooks). While there are rare posts of it working, the vast majority have issues.

Any 10.2.7 & iSight users here on MacNN able to make this combo work??

I too have a G5 with iSight, mine is a 1.8 Ghz. but, there is no problem with the iSight, work just great...

However I am sorry to hear you are off to a bad start with your experience in the AV world of iChat...

I have exactly the same problem with you: my iSigiht does not work on my G5.

iSight itself is fine, because it works on my PM G4. All the firewire ports on my G5 are fine, as I checked them.

I have the Dual G5 with 1 GB memory and Apple Cinema Display.

I suspect this trouble comes from iChatAV, which was released before 10.2.7. Maybe we will wait and see because iChatAV is still beta.

Anyway, I am kind of relieved because now I know it is not me alone.

Are you sure you chaps installed the iChat 2.0 BETA?

I was in the Apple Store yesterday and one of the employees was talking about how 10.2.7 does not work with iChat. I guess you'll have to wait for Panther then.

Yes. iChat AV 2.0 (v106).

I think I'll wait for Panther, which is just a month away from now.

Ok I got my dual today. Same problem. Beta installed, ASP can see the camera but it does not work in iChat. nuts

Exactly the same problem here! I reported this just a couple of days before you and got no solutions:

I also failed to get the iSight to work with Quicktime Broadcaster and Yahoo Messanger, so this suggests it is not a problem with iChatAV as such, but something at a more system level.

10.2.8 (G5) released on October 3 has solved this problem for me.
