I'm going to be on the road with my new 15" PB and will need a printer with it. My main goal for this entire tour is to limit the amount of crap I have to lug around, so "mobile" is the key factor here.

I will be transporting this printer pretty much everywhere I go in a messenger-bag-style case, along with my PB and all its accessories. Form factor and weight are very important to me because I will probably be carrying other bags besides my laptop bag, and even if I'm not I don't want it to weigh me down all the time.

I've been looking mostly at the Canon i70 and BJC-55. I like the battery power and light weight of the BJC-55, but I'd rather not spend so much money (but will if I have to). Are there no printers that can run off the power of the USB port? Print quality is not of particular importance to me. I'm also trying to limit the number of cords I have to carry, so the size of the AC adapter makes a difference too.

I'm hoping someone can suggest other good models I might have missed (the HP 450Ci seems a little big compared to the Canons), or give details about their experience travelling with the i70 or BJC-55, or any other models.
Thanks for any help you can give!

I carried around a Wallstreet and a BJC-80. The Wallstreet was heavy and the power adapter for the BJC-80 although not too heavy is quite large. Makes for a *big* computer bag. So I agree with the concepts of light weight and smaller is better. Other issues: the Canon BJC-80 was/is very reliable (never had a problem with it) and the ink tanks were pretty reasonable $-wise.

The BJC-55 is older technology so it will never print at the same resolution as the i70. Will this be an important item in the future? I also wonder how many pages the 55 will print on battey before you need to plug it into the wall. So, in the end you'll still be carrying the charger

When it comes time to replace the 80, I'm going to get an i70. It looks to be smaller than the HP and the ink tanks are cheaper. It also looks better

The HP 450Ci does feature FULL SIZE cartridges which means the cartridges will not have to be replaced as often.

The price for ink based on ml is about the same for the i70 and 450ci, however the HP 450ci appears to print more pages per equivalent amount of ink.

I own a 450Ci not for travel, but for compact dimensions and like having a small printer that uses full sized inks.

In addition, the 450Ci has a bluetooth option which I haven't yet tested since I think $100 for a bluetooth compatible card is ludicrous.
