yeah--

I have an ibook 500... I saw a new HP laser jet 1012 that looked cool... in the store it said it was USB 2.0.

I went to hp.com but it is not listed yet...

anyway, can you connect a printer that is USB 2.0 to a USB 1 port on your mac?

Does it just downgrade?

Yes, it should work but will be limited to USB 1.0 speed - it is backwardly compatible, AFAIK.
