I anyone else using a MS Intellimouse Explorer with a Dual G5? The OS recognizes the left, right and scroll wheel, but neither the MS driver nor USB Override are able to change or assign any functionality to the buttons. The mouse works just fine with my PowerBook550.

I just got my machine yesterday, so I did download the latest versions of both the MS software and USB Overdrive.

Inside the MS control panel, it normaly shows a picture of what mouse you have, but that appears as a greyed out mouse with a red X. In USB Overdrive, when you press on the buttons, it usually highlights the name of the button you are pressing, but that doesn't happen either. The Apple System Profiler does show the correct name of the mouse hooked up to the machine. I've tried both hooking the mouse directly to the computer and to my 23inch monitor.

I had the same problem with my 1.8 G5. Never could get it to work with ver. 5.0 of Intellimouse drivers. In the sys. pref. pane the mouse had a big, red X over it.

I gave up and bought a Logitech MX500. Works great and a much better mouse IMHO.

I posted this problem a while ago. It has more to do w/ 10.2.7 I think.

But you should get the old drive, 3.0 or 3.1. Don't use the new 5.0.
