I got a question. I need to buy a new video card for my PC and my question which one of these cards are better.

I was thinking of either picking up a new 9600 or buying a used 9700.

I realized that the 9700 is last generation, but at least it was top of the line.

Which one would you guys recommend.

(I also realized that the new 9600XT just came out.)

Judging by the performance gains from the 9800 Pro to the 9800 Pro XT, the 9700 Pro would still be faster than the 9600 Pro XT.

Well first of all..what kind of things do you plan on doing Ie: grphical work, games etc.? You dont' really need the 9700 if you don't plan on doing anything high end as far as grphics and games go. The 9600 would suit average work and use just perfectly. IMO even if you do want to do major graphical work and such the 9600 would do fine. If I was in youre situation, I'd go for the 9600.

Games. . . lots of games. Probably Half Life 2, Sim City 4, Medal of Honor.
