I recently moved my Pioneer 105 to an external FireWire case because it was causing kernel panics. I've burned DVDs fine, but now I'm trying to read one and I've having problems.
First, the disk mounts fine and shows up on the desktop. But then DVD Player launches and says "Serious error: a valid DVD player can't be found" or something.
Okay, who cares? I just want to rip it. So I launch DVD Backup, and it complains about a decryption problem.
I seem to recall someone saying that you have to first open a DVD with Apple's DVD player in order to use DVD Backup. Is this my problem?
Are there workarounds? Why can't I use DVD Player with this external drive?
Is there a patch I need? A hack?
I have a G4/400 (upgraded to 900), and OS 10.2.8 (yes, I got the update).
