Does the ipod battery lose charge when it is not on? I bought a refurb from Apple and charged it up. It was off for a few days and when I turned it back on, the battery was almost drained. Is this normal?

Yes, it's normal. If you leave it for a few days, it will drain.

I leave my iPod in that dock and I think that makes it drain faster... does it?
My iPod does the same thing.... it's normal, but according to apple, I thought, if you don't use it, the battery shoudl start to drain withint 14 to 28 days.. or something like that...
but in reality it's 2 or 3 days with no use and it's gone!
Just like my lying cell phone.

Is it possible to overcharge the ipod battery? I don't think it is, but lets say I wanted to charge it overnight so I can bring it into the office the next day.

It'll stop charging when it's done.

What kind of battery life do you guys get out of your ipod?
I had mine fully charged up last night. I listened to it for 30 minutes that night, 20 minutes in class today, straight listening for about an hour, played games on it for about 20 minutes, and maybe 15 minutes combined here and there. That's about 2 and half hours and it has 1 bar of battery life left. Apple claims 8 hours on the website. I only used the backlight for about 30 of those 2 and half hours.

That's the battery life that I get. I think the 8 hours is overrated.

My 20 GB 2G iPod could play 128 kbps MP3s for about 4.5 hours when it was new. I'm on 320 kbps AACs now and the thing is three years older, and I can get about 3.
