Sandisk Ultra ImageMate Compact Flash Reader and iPhoto

Anybody have any experience with this product working or not working with iphoto?

I'm looking for zero config

Can you give me any pointers or suggest another firewire card reader. Maybe suggest some USB ones as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

I just bought a generic bus powered 1394 compact flash reader off eBay for like $20 shipped. Only compact flash, but since both of my cameras use it, I don't expect to need xD or SD or MemoryStick compat. anytime soon.

Anyway, plugged it it, slapped in my CF card out of my camera, and iPhoto fired right up. Works great with 0 set up.
The same goes with another generic CF only USB reader I got awhile back. Both work fine in 10.2.8, but the Firewire one is much faster.

I don't have the Ultra ImageMate, but I do have the ImageMate USB 2.0 reader and the PCMCIA Adapter.

Both sandisk adapters work well with iPhoto. When I plug in a cf card iPhoto launches automatically and sees all the new photos, etc.

Since Sandisk lists OS X compatiblity for all the ImageMate's (including the Ultra), the Ultra should work fine with iPhoto as well.

I have an Ultra ImageMate, and it works fine. It was plug-and-play, with no configuration needed. It gets its power over FireWire, and it's hot-swappable, so I only plug it in when I need it. Transferring images over FireWire is so much better than USB.
