My uncle has a rev b iMac and his scanner just kicked the bucket. He doesn't need anything fancy, but I figured he could get a usb 2.0 scanner now and down the road when he gets a faster mac the scanner could take advantage of the usb 2.0 ports.

Does a usb 2.0 scanner exist w/ os9 drivers?
Will it throttle down to a usb 1.1 port?

Thanks!

USB 2.0 devices are backwards compatible with 1.1, so will work with a 1.1 host... Your main problem is getting a new USB 2.0 scanner supported in OS 9 I reckon.

i realize that 2 is backwards compatible. I'm wondering if the mac drivers have been updated to take advantage of 2's speed.

There is no way to use USB 2.0 in OS 9. Apple never bothered to implement USB 2 support in OS 9, whereas it's built-in in OS X.
