Well... I finally got my Apple Extreme base station, and so I went and tried to set it up. At first, I connected the AEBS to my hub, in which the hub also connections a lot of other PCs to the net. The PCs that are connected to the hub all works and can go on it net. My AEBS shows that the AEBS is connected as both the left and right dot light are blinking and the middle light is always on. I also picked it up with my Powerbook. So all goes well right? no... I'm getting full signal, but I can't load any web page, or get anything to connect to the internet. So... fine, I than set up so that the hub is connected to the AEBS, same... doesn't work, now both the AEBS and the hub doesn't connect. This is a brand new AEBS by the way... So, ok, I called up my ISP first when I had my AEBS connected to the hub, they told me that they can see the hub, but not my AEBS, they don't know what's wrong and that I should call Apple for help on this issue. So yea, I did. After messing with it for 3 hours and still can't get the damn thing to work, Apple have no idea as well. Does anyone out there have this problem and know how to solve it? I'm using CableOne ISP.
Everything shows it's working fine, but I can't get anything to load or connect to the net. Could this be a DOA AEBS? or is this something that is solve able?
Please help me...
Thanks,
Ming

This has happened to me twice, first when I got the AEBS, and second, when I moved to a new abode and connected to a new ADSL router.
Both times, after much hair pulling, I figured I had to delete my Network setting and/or create a totally new location in the Network settings.
Good luck, and I hope someone else here pipes in, but you're better off posting this in Networking, if you haven't already done so. :-)

What do you mean by deleting your network setting and/or create a totally new loaction in the network setting? Can you show me how you did this? Yea, I posted on the network forum part first, but had no replies... not many people post there I guess...
Thanks for you help...

Need some more info. If everything connected to your hub is connected to the net, I'm assuming you have a router of some sort,or is your ABS doing the routing? If you do have a router, make sure your ABS is in bridge mode.
There are a ton of possible ways to set up a base station and they all differ depending on circumstance. Please let us know your physical set up as well as how you are connecting - i.e. router/hub/ABS and whether you are using ppoe or getting static ips from your isp.

Well, The way I set it up, the main cable cord line is connected to the main box the cable company sent us, where you screw the cable cord into, than from that station, I ran the Lan cord to my AEBS's WAN, than from the AEBS, I ran another LAN cord out from my LAN Port into a hub which connects 3 other pc computers. When I have that set up like that, the AEBS shows that it is connected, and there is internet activity, as the left light blanks every few seconds, middle light is always on, and the right light is blanking really fast. But... none of the computer can connect to the net, as page not found on web pages, and nothing can get any connection to the net.
Now, if I ran the main station to the hub first where the PCs are connected to, than ran another LAN cord into my AEBS, the PCs is able to connect, but not my AEBS.
I just can't get it to work for some odd reason... what am I doing wrong? what do I have to change in order to make it to work?
Thanks,
Ming

UNPLUG the power to the cable modem.
UNPLUG the power to the AEBS.
Wait 5 minutes.
Attach everything like this:
modem's ethernet port > AEBS' WAN port and AEBS's LAN port > hub's uplink port (or port 1)
Plug the power back into the modem. Watch the lights. When it finishes initializing (the lights will get steady, like normal), plug the power into the AEBS.
On the PB, go to Sys Prefs > Network. Show Airport, Configure using DHCP.
Now try.
And don't cheat. Do all this exactly as described.

Thanks, I'll give this a try. No cheating either. ^_^

If it is just a plain hub, without any routing, i.e., no shared, dynamic, ip, that can mean your isp is giving you multiple static ip's. If it is a router, your router is sharing the single ip among all of your computers. How things need to be configured depends on the physical set up and what your isp gives you. If something is misconfigured, unplugging it will not really work. If it is a matter of your ABS needing a reset, then pulling the power will help.
Now is that a hub, a switch, or a router?

It's a hub.
But after doing this for about an hour, and got some help from my isp, everything is up and running now. The only problem is, even with using the extendAIR omni Dr. Bott, I'm still not getting full signal. I guess I should of went with the $150 one... I live in a very old house, so I guess radio wave does not travel good in here... my room is in the second floor, and the omni and airport is on the first floor, not even that far away really... and I put the omni up high too. Oh well, at least everything is up and running fine now.
Thanks everyone for all your helps.

This is great, I had it set up to G stardard only, and everything loads a lot faster now.
Thanks again everyone for all your help. ^_^

Unplugging the modem is probably the most common fix for this type of problem. The modem remembers the MAC address of the computer it last connected with and will not connect to another. Unplugging it (not simply resetting it with a button) gets the modem to forget that and connect to a new MAC address, the AEBS'.

Yea, that's what my ISP told me when I called them for help. Wish I would of knew about it 2 days ago. =P but oh well, everything works fine now.
