I have a Dual 2Ghz G5 that came shipped with 2 256Meg chips. Outside of Apple. I ordered "1 512mb Apple Pwrmac G5 DDR 400 PC3200 for 1.8Ghz and Dual 2Ghz" (that's the listing that came w/ the memory). I installed it in the correct port, according to the manual and Apple System Profiler (ASP). ASP recognizes that a chip is there as having a listing under the "type" category, but it says under the "size" category: "empty". So even though I have 1,024Megs of RAM, I am listed as only having 512Megs of RAM.

Any suggestions?

Did you install each individual stick in seperate banks?

RAM in the new G5s has to be installed in pairs (i.e. both banks require the same set of chips) so for that to work, each bank would need 1 256 chip and 1 512 chip, or 1.5GB. you can't have an odd number of chips (and they have to be distributed evenly between the banks) or else it wont work.
