Hi all.

I'm trying to get a couple of PDFs onto my Clie, and the only option it gives me is to load them on a memory stick (which I don't have).

I've tried going through the Palm Acrobat installer application in OS X, but it loads in OS 9 and won't see the PDFs on my desktop.

Any help?

Cheers
Scott

Hi,
On my copy of Adobe Reader for Palm OS, Version 3.0, under preferences there is a 'Transfer files to:' option that gives me the option of Handheld or Memory stick.

Mine does too, but it won't let me select where I move the things. Is there something I'm not doing here?

There's a minor bug with the Adobe PDF converter -- it's fully OS X carbonized, but installs by default with the "Open in Classic" option selected. Get Info on the converter, uncheck the Classic option, and then it'll convert them into the necessary prc files.

(Obviously, this involves you downloading and installing Acrobat Reader for Palm and the accompanying conduit.)

I have just had a thought, I have missing sync installed - perhaps this enables me to choose the handheld or memory stick options?

OK, do us a favor: describe in excruciating detail the steps you are taking to upload PDFs. Because there is no reason it should be failing. I will then compare what's happening on your Clie with what happens with my Clie (which reads PDFs happily, so long as i've run them through the necessary converter).

Edit: am I correct to assume that you are attempting to just upload the actual PDF file into the Clie using the Conduit Manager/Palm Desktop? You MUST use the Adobe Reader for Palm OS application, which converts it, and then lets you HotSync the PDF into the handheld.

I haven't used Acrobat for Palm in a while because I found it very buggy, but I agree with the suggestion that you might need Missing Sync before your Mac can see your memory stick.

If you have one of the latest Clies, you can also view PDFs in Picsel Viewer, though I'm sure Acrobat gives you more options.

One great place to go for advice would be the Mac forum at www.cliesource.com

The Missing Sync isn't at issue here -- it's needed to hotsync the Clie at all. But the whole point was that the person here doesn't have a Memory Stick.

Adobe Reader now seems to be just fine, provided you know how to use it.

Reinstalled everything (with newest versions). Turned out I was using older stuff.

Works like a charm!

Thanks all!
