I was wondering if it is possible to sync a FAT-32 (Windows) formatted iPod with OS X iTunes and iCal. My guess is no, but I would like confirmation.
My PC with iTunes for Windows (and MacDrive) won't sync with my HFS+ formatted iPod.

I've heard there is no difference between the two iPods except the formatting. If you put a Fat-32 hard drive to a Mac Computer (atleast in OS 9) you got a disk that was all crappy looking that said PC in ASCII I think and you could copy and edit files but the disk was really flaky and you couldn't do much else to it. I doubt you could sync to it in OS X. In fact, I'm almost positive the iPod Software utility would end up formatting the disk for Mac OS Extended + or whatever format it is.

Yeah, this is precisely my question: Has anyone actually tried it with a FAT32 iPod?
Anyways I felt OS 9 support of FAT32 was pretty dman good, and better than X.1's at least. Dunno about X.3 (what I'm running now).

I have a "windows" 3G iPod, ie the iPod is formatted as a FAT32 harddrive.
I use it as an external hardrive in both Mac OS X and Windows, and it works great! But Mac OS X uses a bit longer to recognize the drive when connected, than it did when it was a "Mac" formatted iPod.
I also use iTunes on a mac to automatically sync all my songs. And I use iSync to sync all my contacts and calenders to the iPod. The only issue I have, is that the iPod icon on the desktop no longer is a miniature iPod, but a regular dmg icon.

why not just format it half in half?
half fat32
half hfs+
