OK, I need to help a friend who is having a rpbolem. Basically, he is trying to hook up a HP 1300 to an older iMac (te printer does support back to 8.6). Anyways, he has the drivers installed and everything but when he opens the Hp printer utlity and selects the printer it always erors out with either error code 1 or 2. What does that mean??? He cannot really update to OS 9 becasue he only has 32MB RAm and no one sells it, but I just want to get it working how it is. Can anyone help? This is kinda time sensitive...

Thanks all!
Justin

P.S. Oh yea, the printer is connected via USB to the iMac

Sounds to me like (OS version aside) your friend needs a fresh OS install.

That said, 32MB of RAM is not enough, period. With RAM so cheap, there is absolutely no excuse not to upgrade.

And what's this about "no one sells it"? RAM for older Macs is readily available, and plenty of places sell surplus OS 9 discs. (USB in Mac OS 8 is very flaky.)
