So I have a 867 Quicksilver, and an iSight and a Rev 2 iPod. The iSight has been going unused because my campus firewall doesn't allow me to do the slightest thing. Anyhow I plugged it back in today, and now the iPod will not connect. It only shows the screen that says "ok to disconnect." If I unplug the iSight, I'm fine.

Now if I remember correctly the iSight is a major drain on the firewire bus, and that bus powered firewire HDs don't work very well when you have an iSight plugged in. But see, none of this happened this summer, only now. Any ideas out there on why now? I'd like to have both plugged in eventually. (and not buy a firewire hug either)

The only way I could get iSight to work on my iMac without continual problems with my iPod and external Firewire drive was to buy a Firewire hub.

Since then I have had no problems at all.

I believe that this is a known issue. I have an iSight and a 3G iPod, both connected via a firewire hub. When the iSight is plugged in, the iPod often won't mount. I have remove the iPod from the dock, unplug the iSight, then put the iPod back into the dock. As a consequence, I usually leave the iSight unplugged unless I'm using it.

It all works fine via my Belkin Firewire hub, the problems happened before I got the hub.

Anyone know of a cheap hub I could get than? Something that won't bleed me dry? Although I don't foresee me needing more than two firewire ports, but oh well.

Though there was this cool Godzilla firewire hub that MacAddict loved a while back. That would look cool on my desk. Hmmm....
