So it was fine going to work in the car (had it playing via cassette adapter) put it in my bag walk to work a block away. Plug it into computer speakers there and the thing start going haywire. I can select a playlist then when I hit the first song it seems to about to play(according to screen) then it skips to the next song without playing the the next a second after that and so on. None of the buttons work. Fiddle with the buttons for about ten minutes then remember how instruction book say to "reset" the iPod by holding down menu and play at the same time. I do it and after like a minute of holding it down it resets. I choose english. I see that all the playlist are empty. Thought no biggie I have my PB with me I'll just plug fire wire in, it will sync up and all will be well. It doesnt mount? I launch iTunes. It doesn't show up? The screen on iPod has some sort of spinning wheel with a magnifying glass over it and a progress bar. I assume it is some sort of system check like when you force restart in OS 9. Progress bar finally gets to the end in like 30 mins. There is a little check mark like all is ok. press a button it goes quickly to the regular menu then to the do not disconnect warning. Still not showing up in iTunes or mounted but does show up in Apple system profiler. I leave it connected all day at work and still says the same thing turn off computer say the same thing. disconnect it ignoreing warning and it still says the same thing and won't turn off. 4 hours later at home its still on with the do not disconnect screen.

It's the newer model 10 gig with the latest software. Has anything like this happened to anyone else? I'm bringing it to Applestore tomorrow.
