There's a possible issue with the Retail Radeon 9800 Pro with Panther and the 3D Overrides. After talking to a friend who said 3D Overrides were broken I noticed mine were working fine we found an issue with the ATI driver installers.
If you do a clean install of Panther and then install the Radeon 9800 Pro 1.1 drivers, the installer apparently installs some files in the wrong folder. Instead of installing files in /System/Library/Extensions and /System/Library/Extensions/AppleNDRV, it installs them in /Library/Extensions. This will result in the 3D Overrides not working.

Here's the files and where they should go:
/System/Library/Extensions/ATITVOut.kext
/System/Library/Extensions/AppleNDRV/ATI ROM Xtender

However, putting them in the right places doesn't seem to work for my friend. Can anyone who has a Radeon 9800 Pro and did a clean install confirm or deny that 3D Overrides are broken for them?

There's also another problem with the ATITVOut.kext. It doesn't work in Panther at all, even if it is installed in the correct spot.
