Help! I have just got Wanadoo ADSL in France and declined to buy their Ethernet modem because I already have a D-Link 300G which I have been successfully using in the UK.

Howver, I have to set all the modem settings such as VCmux pap/chap etc which is double dutch to me but which I worked out with BT's help in England.

It has cost me €20 and 1 hour on Wanadoo's help line to establish that they have no idea what I'm talking about, they don't know how to configure a D-Link and why don't I buy the France telecom ethernet modem for €299! (Or better yet use the USB Speedtouch which they sent to me anyway. I'd rather chew my arm off)

A monkey sitting at a keyboard for long enough will eventually produce the works of Shakespeare. However, I have been unable to configure the D-Link to work, although it has picked up the ADSL signal (light goes green). I know the ADSL is working because I've tested it with the execrable Speedtouch on my OS9 iBook.

Sacre bleu. Any help would be appreciated.

Yep France Telecom are a bunch of complete retards. I know my dad has a wanadoo DSL. And his works perfectly. Are you sure you need to alter those setting ? It seems highly unlikely. Did you try to connect just like that ?

Well unbelievably, having spent many hours working on this at the weekend, (and I'm now back in the UK), immediately after doing this post I found a web site which gave me the answer

http://www.eicon.com/support/helpweb...l_settings.asp

Ho hum - I fix it when I'm back in a couple of weeks! And I'll never again call Wanadoo support.
