I recently ordered a 250GB Maxtor SATA drive to add to my G5. I got the standard issue 160GB with the computer and I'm wondering how the two compare. I've heard the Maxtor is the quieter of the 250GB SATAs, is it also quieter than the stock 160GB? What are the specs of the 160GB drive? I'm trying to decide which drive I should install Panther on.

Thanks!

I got my g5 with the 250GB maxtor. It seemed worth the price considering the lack of internal storage capacity of the computer.
I filled up the second drive bay with a 160GB maxtor. If I had to say, I would tell you the 160 is louder. But maybe its just cos its obvious when it spins up as its not a boot drive.
I partitioned the 250 in 2. One is approx 160 and i clone the whole partition to the 160GB drive. The extra 80GB partition gets stuff that i wouldn't waste my time backing up.

My stock G5 came with a Seagate 160, which these guys say is the quietest out there. Unfortunately Seagate doesn't make a 250.
