My old Sony 15" Trinitron monitor isnīt enough for my Dual G5, me thinks, so I want to upgrade to either a 17" LCD or a 19" CRT.

However, I canīt make up my mind...

Iīm basically using the Dual for audio/multitracking/editing etc., and might end up using (on a hobby basis) for video/Photoshopping - and perhaps some gaming as a side dish.

Pros for LCD: Takes little space, sharp+bright picture, DVI, light weight.
Cons for LCD: lower resolution, price.

Pros for CRT: 18" viewable, higher resolution (1600), more "color correct" picture (?), cheap
Cons: weight (!), size, not so sharp.

What would people recommend? Anyone have experience with both?

Thanks!

I use a CRT for my main monitor and an LCD for my secondary monitor.

I find that for gaming, the LCD's are still a little slow and blurry and that's why I still favor the CRT.

Otherwise LCD's are sharper and brighter, and by a considerable margin.

Just replaced my 17 inch CRT with a 19 inch LCD a couple weeks ago and love the change. I have not noticed any issues with gaming so far. At least not with NASCAR 02 & 03 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003
