Sharing Firewire Drive b/t Mac and PC?

I'm a recent switcher and am trying to plan backups in a now multiplatform home environment. Here's what I'm dealing with:

iBook G4
XP-Pro desktop
XP-Pro laptop

I planning to put together a firewire 120GB drive to do all the backups on, but I'm wondering about filesystem format. What filesystem should I use to format the firewire drive? Keep in mind that I'll (ideally) want to be able to plug the drive into the either the iBook or the XP desktop and have the same functionality in terms of being able to save the backups.

Any thoughts??? Please....

Between my XP and OS X machines, I have a 120GB LaCie FW drive for transferring data. The drive is formatted as HFS+, and I use MacDrive software to let the PC see the hard drive. It works seamlessly and I haven't run into any filesystem incompatibilities.

That looks exactly like what I'll need. Thanks for the recommendation.

To others: is there a free or open source solution that anyone has used that works as well or better than MacDrive 5?
