Ugh, not sure why your initial post is missing but to answer your question, it's alright, but you can't expect it to sound as good if it were from a CD player. Furthermore, you'll have difficulty if you live in a major city as the airwaves are a bit polluted. You'll just have to spend some time in looking for frequencies that are reasonably "clear".

The only problem I have with it is that it has to be in the back of my car (near the antenna) to get good reception. This precludes using it and charging the iPod at the same time.

It's crap! but for some reason the bad reviews keep on disappearing... I've tried it in different cars. 2 more friends had the same problems with their iTrips: Lousy sound, if any at all. Changing frequencies all the time if on the motorway etc.

I guess I'm just lucky, but I LOVE my itrip! Occassionally I get a little static when traveling on an interstate which I assume is just interference from a local station, but for the most part--it works great!
I have been very pleased with it! It works no matter where I put it in the car.

Love it. I use mine mainly at home to stream the same music to different rooms. Excellent results up to 30ft away.

Hated mine, no static but a high pitched tone could always be heard in the background. I returned it the next day. The iRock is much less elegant but works much better.

Mine is great. I get good reception, with the exception of something in my friends car interfering when it is around 95. So far I have not had any major trouble with any other interference. However, I live in Socorro, New Mexico, which is in the middle of nowhere. Socorro county is larger than some states, but has a population of about 20,000. As such, the radio waves are fairly clean so the iTrip is powerful enough. I think that in a place like New York City the radio waves might be a bit flooded, so you will have more trouble with the iTrip.
For those of you that don't know, New Mexico IS a part of the United States; it fills in that space between Arizona and Texas. It joined the Union on January 6, 1912 as the 47th State. You can find its web page at < www.state.nm.us> Sorry for the rant, but I sometimes get tired of people thinking that New Mexico is part of Mexico; it is not.

Yeah, I get that tone too. Sometimes worse than others, but almost always not so bad that I notice.
I love the thing, though. I use it in our Cougar, which has no tape deck. But I get the most out of it at work; I'm a quality tester at a refinery and one of my jobs is to collect samples in the plant. I bring my iPod + iTrip in the lab truck and rock out while I'm picking up samples. Plus, when I get back I can listen on the lab boom boxes. Definitely got my money's worth.

iTrip is doing good. I can have it on two radios in different rooms at the same time. It's still better in my car and in my motorhome. The car radio picks up a good signal from 20 feet away.
It hasn't been always good, though, when I tried it with other people's systems. I think the receiving radio makes a difference - perhaps from radio quality, house wiring, or electrical interferance from other devices.
If you think yours isn't doing well, try it elsewhere - in other cars and houses.

I've been using mine for a week with fantastic results. No problems in the 4 cars I've tested it in. The sound isn't as good as CD but it's not bad at all in my opinion for what it does. My car doesn't have any tape deck or aux input so this was my only choice. I was worried for a while before I got it if it was going to work due to the negative reviews that pop up but it's been smooth sailing since it arrived. Now I can finally have my music follow me where ever I go.

The 4th one I got finally would send a signal across the room or could be picked up by the antenna at the rear of my car.
I had to have them personally test one for me. The one that finally worked was also off by 600khz. Tune 101.6 to get 101!!!

I finally got mine in yesterday. Took forever because of stupid shipping issues from the US to Canada. Freaked me out at first, because they put the iTrip2 inside a box for the original iTrip. With my package having sat in customs for almost 2 weeks, I was understandably perturbed.

Not sure if it's because the area you live in might have way too many stations/frequencies, but here in the DC metro area, after a 1/2 hr of searching all freqeuncies, I finally found 1 that always delivers good for me 107.1, might just take lil searching here and there to find the ideal frequency spot..btw mine took for ever to get shipped to..think griffin only has 20 employees er something

I don't have one of my own, but my friend picked one up and I was definitely unimpressed. Couldn't get any reception in the car. It eventually broke.
I'm lucky since the audio deck in my car has audio in. I just picked up a mini stereo to RCA splitter at RadioShack and plugged it in. Beautiful.
