I recently purchased a MS Intellimouse Explorer and installed the Intellipoint 5.0 driver on my Dual G5 with Panther. Ever since then, my computer has gone haywire. It starts with the computer not waking up from sleep. After a couple hard restarts, it starts crashing at startup. Eventually the computer fails to startup at all.

After I went through this once, I did a clean install of Panther. It worked fine until I reinstalled the Intellipoint driver again. It started going haywire the same way it did before. I'm curious if others have had the same problems with this software or if my symptoms sound like they're unrelated to the driver altogether. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Strange. Works fine with my MS Wireless Optical Desktop and my TiBook 1 GHz, on Panther.

What hardware are you running?

Mouse should work out of the box, but you won't get the controls to assign button actions, etc. Try doing a clean install, then just use the mouse without the software to see if it works and doesn't crash your box. If it still crashes, either you got a bad mouse or the g5 will need a code fix. Otherwise, you should call Microsoft and tell them that they'll need to update their software.

Also be sure to get your software from the website if possible rather than the CD. A new version may have been released since the CD.
