We've been having some issues with losing photos recently, and I'm now thinking I'll just use a CF reader. Which ones have people used with OS X? How does that work with iPhoto?
(I plug the camera in (Canon S230), click 'Import' in iPhoto. Runs for a bit, then there is nothing in the Last Import, and nothing on the camera. Very frustrating.)
iPhoto is my LEAST favorite application. I lost hundreds of photos when I tried to move/rename some folders. Very sad.
I use this card reader from Macally and it works like a charm. I drag the image files from the flash card to a folder on my desktop called (creatively ) "Camera dump {this date}" and then once they are safely on the computer, I can do what I want with them.
I found this $15 shareware that beats iPhoto as far as being able to organize images.
Virtually any CF reader will work with iPhoto & MacOS X. I've used three CF readers on my Mac - a SanDisk, some no-name cheapy, and my current one is a SanDisk USB 2.0 multi-card reader (CF I & II, SD, MemoryStick, MMC).
