Hello All,

Got a PowerMac G5 and I'm loving it. However, the company I work for skimped on the displays due to budget. I requested a 20" cinema and got 2 Dell VGA/CRT's instead. Atleast they're big.

Anyway, does anyone have any recommendations for a way that I can use both monitors in a dual monitor setup?

The system came with a DVI-VGA adaptor, so I've got one CRT plugged in. I'd like to use the second monitor.

I've seen the prices on the ADC-VGA connectors and they're rediculous (~$300).

So, does anyone know of a cheap video card that has VGA out, but works with Apple's PCI-X port? I'm thinking that's the best/cheapest solution. My budget's about $30-$50.

The $300 adapters are for going from a VGA to a DVI so they are much more complicated than what you are looking for (they need to convert the analog signal to digital and then add power for the monitor.)

I haven't tried this, but you SHOULD be able to use an ADC-DVI adapter (about $30) and then a DVI to VGA adapter (about $30.) Both of these adapters are available at the Apple Store or Fry's..

Cool, hadn't seen that one before. I was a little worried about this because I am in the same boat (need two VGA monitors at work) but my G5 hasn't arrived yet so I haven't went looking for the adapters yet.
