I am looking to add another drive to my G4, and I want to duplicate the drive already in there (stock unit). I have done some looking around and believe I have determined the exact model the stock unit is:

Seagate Barracuda
Model # ST380023A
80gb 7200 Ultra ATA/100
seek time: 9.4 ms avg

Can anyone confirm this, or tell me the correct unit? Also, where is a good place to get/order this unit?

TIA

You don't need to get an identical unit.

Yes, I know I don't need an identical unit, just thought I would do that.

What drive would you recomend, then?

I have 2 WesternDigital 120GB (8mb cache) drives inside my MDD in additional to the stock Seagate drive. I'm thinking of getting a 250GB drive and move all the data from the 2 HDs into one. I rather have one big drives rather than 2 smaller one since the mobo couldn't keep up IF I have more than one drive. Like AE won't stay connect after a day or so. [in my case]

Apple doesn't have a clue as well.

You can always check the Drive Compatibilty from xlr8yourmac.com

you lucky people, my MDD (dual 1.0) came with a 80gb IBM and I'm afraid its going bad (invalid file count, unable to repair with disk utility or drive 10). I also have a 120 maxtor drive.

on the subject can I put a 160 or 180gb drive on the second (slower) ide channel? or should I put my 80gb IBM there and put it on the main controller?

thanks
